All Optotune liquid lenses now supported by In-Sight 3800

April 10, 2024

Zurich, April 4, 2024 – Cognex Corporation (NASDAQ: CGNX), a world leader in industrial machine vision, and Optotune AG, market leader in liquid lenses, strengthen their partnership beyond the DataMan® and In-Sight® product portfolio. By leveraging the new AI capabilities of the Insight 3800 Vision system, Cognex unlocks unprecedent possibilities within the image analysis world.

With the new In-Sight Vision Suite release, Cognex enables customers from around the world to leverage Optotune liquid lens capabilities and use the full portfolio of Optotune liquid lens modules, with focal lengths from 12 to 300 mm and with telecentric modules, from 0.13X up to 10X magnification. The seamless hardware and software integration allow for a fast setup and accurate focus control.

During complex visual inspection processes, companies often face a trade-off between inspection speed and sufficient depth of field, needed for accurate image analysis.

The possibility of using Optotune liquid lens modules directly via Cognex In-Sight vision systems enables necessary image acquisition speed with no compromise on image quality. This way, the data provided to the AI algorithm has the best quality and the system throughput is increased at the same time.

“We are pleased to fortify our longstanding collaboration with Cognex, delivering an intuitive and fully integrated vision solution designed for demanding applications that need fast and reliable focusing. This development underscores our commitment to providing our customers with cutting-edge optical innovation.” says Dr. Manuel Aschwanden, CEO of Optotune.

“We have successfully partnered with Optotune for many years and are excited to expand to a new area of collaboration”, says Matt Moschner, Senior Vice President at Cognex.
